Pamela Joann Patterson was born on July 5, 1948 to Robert and Norma Gail Patterson in Riverton, Wyoming. She was number two of six children. Her primary years were spent in Nebraska attending a one room country school in Custer County. The family moved to Kearney, Nebraska where she attended 4th- 8th grade, and then moved out west to Idaho. That is when her love affair with the mountains and all things nature began.
Pam graduated from Murray High School in Murray, Utah in 1966 and attended college in Pocatello, Idaho. She moved to Boise, Idaho in the early 70’s and worked as a clerk in the state health department. She also worked as an EMT.
Pam moved to Tucson, Arizona in the early 80’s. She didn’t like the hot dry climate, but she had a good job at Hughes as a programmer and she found she could hike right out her back door, so she stayed there a decade until the cool mountain air called her home.
She lived in and around the Teton Mountains up until about 10 years ago when her health failed her.
Who was Pam? An avid reader, an excellent seamstress, crafter, knitter, and a writer with the most beautiful handwriting. She loved genealogy and discovering her ancestors.
She loved photography. That went hand in hand with her other loves; the mountains, trees, and hiking. She spent most of her middle years hiking around the Tetons taking beautiful photos of trees and mountains.
Pam is survived by her son Lucius Rae, three grandchildren; Tre, Skyler and Avery, brother Irvin (Linda) Patterson, sister Connie (Steve) Achord, brother Sam (Nancy) Patterson, sister Kathy Egbert and brother-in-law Tom Ryan. She also has numerous nephews and nieces, including her namesake Ali Pamela Ryan.
She was preceded in death by her parents Robert and Norma Gail Patterson, three nephews; Wesley, Joshua and Jacob, a brother-in-law, Jim Egbert and also our beloved sister, Alice Ann Ryan.
