Renee Jakob

Renee Jakob, 80, of Fremont formerly of Loup City passed away on Monday, November 13, 2023, at Nye Pointe Nursing Center in Fremont.

Funeral Services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, November 18, 2023; at Higgins Funeral Home in Loup City. Father Richard Piontkowki will officiate. Burial will be in the Evergreen Cemetery at Loup City. Visitation will be held on Saturday at the funeral home beginning at 10:00 a.m. until service time. In lieu of flowers memorials are suggested to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital. Renee was born February 22, 1943, in Sherman County, Nebraska to John and Pauline (Stenka) Eurek. She grew up in Loup City and attended school in Sherman County and graduated from Loup City High School in 1961. 

On November 30, 1963, she was united in marriage James “Jake” Jakob, at St. Josaphat’s Catholic Church in Loup City. The couple made their home in Loup City. Renee worked at the Sherman County Bank from November of 1961 until she retired. 

Renee enjoyed the outdoors, bowling, gardening, canning, going dancing with her husband, Jake, bingo, and spending time with friends. Two things she really loved were Elvis and fishing. She loved to fish! She also loved spending time with her husband, Jake; her family, and her nieces and nephews who she loved as her own.

She is survived by her brother, Jerome Eurek of Fremont; sister and brother-in-law, Janette and Garry Husk of Fremont; two sisters-in-law, Janet Eurek of Phillips and Maryann Eurek of Omaha; nieces; nephews; great nieces and nephews; and great-great nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, James “Jake” Jakob; two brothers, James and Raymond Eurek; sister-in-law, Virginia Eurek; nephew, Rob Kusak who she loved as a son; and nieces and nephews that have passed.
