I have so many fond memories of Betty - from Betty's Beauty Shop in Bassett to her cabin at Hidden Paradise.
Betty gave me my first of many hair cuts at her basement shop. I accompanied my mom, Getha, to many cuts & sets there, as well. I will always remember the descent into the salon room, the blue flowery-patterned dryer chairs, the Cosmo magazines, and the room overall. Oh, and the carpeted walls.
My Aunt Opal cleaned at Betty's house/shop on Monday mornings, and I was able to tag along when I was pre-school age. Besides the extra visits to the salon, I was fascinated by the RED bedroom in the basement.
I often stopped by Betty & Cecil's cabin at Hidden Paradise to chat with Betty, since I knew her so well from the salon. :)
She and Cecil were a fun couple. Thanks for sharing them with the Bassett & Hidden Paradise communities for so many years. My thoughts & prayers are with all of you.
