Doris H. (Peterson) Stephens

     Doris Stephens, 95 of Loup City, NE died Saturday, August 15, 2015 at Rose Lane Home in Loup City.  Funeral services will be 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, August 19, 2015 at the United Methodist Church in Loup City with Reverend Jim Koontz officiating.  Cremation will follow the services with inurnment at Lincoln Memorial Cemetery in Lincoln, NE.  Visitation will be from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. Tuesday, August 18 at the church.  Memorials are suggested to the Stephens family or donor’s choice.     

     Doris Helen Peterson was born February 23, 1920 at Milford, NE to Fred and Lena (Suellwold) Peterson.  She grew up in Milford and graduated from Milford High School.  She worked for Russell Stover in Lincoln and then K-Mart in Lincoln for 25 years.  She married James Stephens on October 1, 1949 at Council Bluffs, IA.  They moved to Sherman Lake near Loup City in 1992 and then moved into town 2012.  She entered Rose Lane Home in 2013.  She was a member of the United Methodist Church.  She enjoyed going on walks with her dog in the mornings at the lake and walking on the golf course while Jim golfed.

     She is survived by her husband, Jim of Loup City, NE; sons and daughter-in-law, Michael of Loup City and Tom and Mary Jane of Lincoln, NE; brother, Donald and wife Virginia Peterson of Seward, NE; grandchildren, Daniel and Brian Stephens and several nieces and nephews.  She was preceded in death by her parents and two brothers, LeRoy and Vernon.
