my family owned The Hamburger House and then the Eatery where Irene worked for many years, in fact she watched me grow up and was very kind to me over those years. I have one of her "deals" sitting on my table now a lovely pink glass candy dish that I have carried from state to state to remember this dear lady even though I haven't seen her since I moved out of Nebraska back in 1993. i'm writing as one the restaurant "kids" she treated like family as well. I loved her hearty laugh and smile and the way she always would sell more pie than anybody simply by her " we have fresh pie" closer to her customers. I send my Condolences to her family on the loss of a truly wonderful lady, she was treasured by her restaurant family. I know she lived a good full life, one that we all can aspire to live and love!
