Roberta M. (Jessup) Welty

Roberta Welty, 92 of Loup City, NE died Saturday, June 27, 2015 at Rose Lane Home in Loup City.  Funeral services will be 10:30 a.m. Friday July 3, 2015 at the United Methodist Church in Loup City with Reverend Jim Koontz officiating with visitation one hour before the service.  Burial will be held at the Evergreen Cemetery at Loup City.  Visitation will be from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. Thursday, July 2 at the church.  Memorials are suggested to the United Methodist Church or donor’s choice.

Roberta Maxine Welty was born February 11, 1923 at Fairfield, NE to Robert E. and Grace Jessup.  She was educated in Clay Center and graduated from Hastings High in 1941.  Upon graduation she was employed at Philipp’s Smart Shoppe clothing store in Hastings.  She met Everett Welty stationed at the Harvard Air Base and they were married on April 8, 1944 at the Kearney Air Base.  She was mother to five children and bookkeeper for Welty’s TV, Furniture and Appliance in Loup City and North Platte.  She enjoyed sewing and playing cards with friends.  She was a member of the United Methodist Church.

     Roberta is survived by her son, Dennis Welty of Loup City; daughters and sons-in-law, Linda and Gary Hornick of Sequim, WA; Marianne and Bob Von Behren of Wildwood, MO; granddaughters, Julie and husband, Aaron Lagemann of Omaha, NE; Jill and husband, Todd Stover of Kearney, NE; Stephanie and husband, Jeff Ricker of Apple Valley, CA; Heather and husband, Nick Siedschlag of Omaha, NE; Tessa and husband, John McConkey of Normal, IL; Brittney and husband, Ryan Dailey of Grover, MO; grandson, Jonathan Larson and wife Robyn of St. Charles, MO; seventeen great grandchildren and one great-great granddaughter.  She was preceded in death by her husband, Everett Welty; parents; infant son, Gerald Welty; daughter, Margaret Larson and son-in-law, Ted Larson of Omaha, NE; an infant brother; sisters, Mary Dillman of Omaha, NE; Martha Lewton of Dallas, TX and Betty Loeffler of Reedley, CA.
