I only met my second cousin Wendy a few times, first in the mid-70's when my father Paul Hansel (whose mother was an Amick) and I visited the Charltons for several days. I was in college in the East and had never experienced Nebraska farm life, but for several days I herded cattle on horseback, drove a truck alongside a combine, and generally lived the Loup City experience. I saw Wendy briefly a couple of years later passing through Omaha. I lost touch with Wendy for many years and just happened to see this obituary, quite a bit late, but those old memories are vivid and dear. My deepest sympathies to her family and friends.

I went to High School with Wendy. We didn't know each other very well, but she was always nice to me. She was soft spoken and friendly. I am sorry to hear of the news of her death. I am sorry for your loss. Joan Zeleski Martin, Lincoln, NE

I was so shocked and saddened to learn of Wendy's passing. I happened to be out of the state on vacation and a former co-worker (and also friend of Wendy's) texted me. Wendy & I immediately formed a friendship as we worked together as medical secretaries. Since I am a little older and now retired, we still made it a point to get together at least once a month for a gals' night out to catch up on each other's lives, family, grandchildren, etc. We were so happy for her that she found a job in Arcadia and was able to be closer to her son's families and grandchildren whom she adored (even though it meant we would have to work harder at finding dates to coordinate our get-togethers). You all are in my prayers at this sad time. I will always remember Wendy as a dear friend and cherish our brief time together. May you find comfort in your memories. God Bless.

Please pass or sympathy on to Ellen. We met her while worshipping together at the Presbyterian church while we were at our Sherman lake house. She spoke so highly of her children. We haven't seen her in years but know how sad she must be. Give her a hug from us. We will pray for all of you.

My brother Dan Skibinski told me of the passing of Wendy. I would like to extend my deepest condolences to the Charlton family. Paula was my friend and classmate in school. Paula - I am so very sorry for your loss. I remember Wendy and Bruce and the tragic death of Jill. So sorry to read that Bruce is gone too. I believe Diane was in my sister Sandi's graduating class. May your loved ones live on forever in your hearts.

Wendy leaves a special memory for me of her visit to our farm with her sister Paula. She just brightened the world around her by just being in it. So sorry you have lost her. Thoughts and prayers are with you.

Dear Charlton Family: Please accept my sincere condolences for your loss of Wendy. It breaks our hearts when death separates us from the ones we love so much. The Bible reminds us that God sees our pain and sorrow and has promised that soon "death will be no more."(Revelation 21:4) He will heal our broken hearts by resurrecting our precious loved ones to life again.(Acts 24:15) Until then, I hope the memories of Wendy and these promises from God comfort you in the days to come.
