Irene D. Spotanski, 79 of Loup City died Friday, July 10, 2015 at Rose Lane Home in Loup City. Funeral services will be 10:00 a.m. Monday, July 13, 2015 at St. Josaphat’s Catholic Church in Loup City with Father Martin Egging officiating. Burial will be held at the Evergreen Cemetery at Loup City. Visitation will be from 4:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. Sunday, July 12 at the church with a Vigil Service at 6:00 p.m. at the church. Memorials are suggested to the Spotanski family or donor’s choice.
Irene Darlene Spotanski was born January 6, 1936 at Loup City, NE to Edward and Helen (Pruss) Wroblewski. She was baptized in the Catholic Church. She was raised and attended school in Loup City. On November 28, 1953 she married Leonard Spotanski at Loup City and they lived most of their lives in Grand Island, NE. For most of Irene’s life she worked as a waitress. Some of those places she worked at were Glovers Diner, The Hamburger House and Tommy’s. She enjoyed waiting on people and meeting with them. She always made sure they received the best of attention. She had a very kind heart. When not working, she cherished being with her family; brother, sister, nephews and nieces. She loved to go to polka dances and be surrounded by her crafts and flowers. Her favorite hobby was shopping. She had a special knack for knowing where to look for those bargains which she treasured and enjoyed sharing with others.
She is survived by her children and spouses; Michael and Mollie Spotanski of Dannebrog, NE; Debra Mitchell of Ravenna, NE; David and Diane Spotanski of St. Libory, NE; Virgil Spotanski of Grand Island, NE; Steve Spotanski of Grand Island, NE; one brother, Harold Wroblewski of Red Cloud, NE; sister, MaryAnn Richardson of Gibbon, NE; nine grandchildren and 11 great grandchildren. Waiting for her in heaven is her husband, Leonard, her parents and sister, Delores Ziola.
